Cove Surf & Turf is a local favorite that serves up the freshest seafood in New Bedford. Local families, residents and tourists come to our restaurant for the fun ambience, first-class service and high-quality food. We’re looking for an experienced Front of House Manager to join our team.

Be the backbone of our operations.

The Front of House Manager will be the backbone of Cove Surf & Turf’s operations. We will depend on you to run our dining area efficiently, hire and train staff, ensure timely and accurate service, and contribute to the success and reputation of our restaurant. In this role, you will:

Greet incoming and departing customers to create a pleasant ambiance and experience.
Manage the flow of guests into the dining areas and provide accurate wait times.
Promptly answer incoming calls, take reservations, coordinate takeout and delivery services.
Maintain a clean dining area and implement safe working practices.
Develop strong communication and line reporting procedures to implement and improve processes that drive better service and cleanliness.
Coordinate and lead management report meetings with key business leaders.
Lead hiring, managing, scheduling and training of supervisors, team leads and staff members.
Motivate the team to achieve their daily productivity and quality goals.
Serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues, customer inquiries and escalations.
Recommend continuous improvements to our processes, workflows and operations.
Monitor and support customer service inquiries and promotions on social channels.
Skills that you bring to the table

2-3 years of experience in a high-traffic restaurant environment
Proven supervisory skills including hiring, coaching, disciplining, scheduling, conflict resolution and training
Basic computer proficiency with the ability to learn new applications and assist staff with questions or issues
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Integrity, detail-oriented, and customer-centric mindset
Strong leader with ability to motivate and deliver results
Flexibility to work extended hours, holidays and weekends, as necessary
Ability to manually lift and/or move items up to 50lbs

Salary: $51,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year

Assistant Manager | Sous Chef
Assistant Manager | Sous Chef $18-22 full time

We are looking for a professional to prepare food to the exact chef’s specifications and to set up stations for menu. Duties will consist of assisting the executive chef with daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals.

Promotion to Assistant Manager is possible after a minimum of 90 days training and a successful evaluation.

Starting Responsibilities

Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Answer, report and follow executive chef’s instructions
Clean up station and take care of leftover food
Stock inventory appropriately
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers


Fluency in reading and speaking English
Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
Familiar with industry’s best practices
Reliable transportation

Compensation and Scheduling

$16-18 per hour for training. Candidates experienced in management may be eligible for higher starting pay. Evaluation at the end of the training period will determine wage going forward.

Restaurant operates Wednesday-Sunday from 10am-9pm. 35-50 hours will be scheduled within those times.
